Participants from all 50 states and several foreign countries annually complete the Kentucky Derby Festival’s miniMarathon and Marathon’s scenic road race that finishes in downtown Louisville. The miniMarathon attracts more than 10,000 entrants each year and is ranked among the nation's top 50 races by USA Track and Field. Over 2,500 participate annually in the Marathon.

At a time when races across the country are experiencing registration declines, the Kentucky Derby Festival’s miniMarathon/Marathon garnered a 1.0% increase in participants from 2018 to 2019.
